CT and Tommy Lee is Chet “CT” Hogoboom and Tommy Lee Nunes

These two musicians have brightened the California Central Coast music scene for more than three decades. Together and apart, acoustic or electric, no two performers have entertained more music fans than these two guitar-playing singer songwriters. Nowadays you will catch them performing (see calendar) up and down the coast playing as an acoustic duo or trio and also with the Typecast Band. Their musical influences are many and you will hear them play an enjoyable combination of Rock, Reggae, Blues and Soul during any given performance. They mix in their original music with a wide range of cover songs. The Central Coast has been the long time home for these two, and in the music you will feel the strong currents of the Coast that run throughout their songwriting. The influences from Southern California and Northern California meet here in the middle. The sound is indigenous to this Coastal area that CT and Tommy Lee have lived and performed in and around for years.

Starting in the 1980’s Tommy and Chet formed their first group Fast Mickey, a popular band rocking on the Central Coast club scene for several years, performing on the Central Coast, in the San Joaquin Valley and frequently in Mammoth Lakes California. During the late 90’s they switched genres to form an acoustic duo. And for more than 10 years they entertained a loyal fan base at the very popular 1865 restaurant in San Luis Obispo on Acoustic Friday Nights. This acoustic music venue gave them the inspiration to write and produce their first self-titled independent CD in 2005. The CD  “CT and Tommy Lee” was recorded at Painted Sky Studio in Cambria California. This first CD was a mixture of acoustic folk, rock, Americana and roots music. (Available on CD Baby )They are currently working on a follow up CD to be released in the fall with more of an electric rock live mix this time around.

To truly understand how imbedded in the roots of the local music scene these talented players are you have to go back to the seminal surf band of the 1960’s the Sentinels with Tommy Lee Nunes writing songs and the band releasing albums on Del Fi records in Los Angeles that brought them regional and national attention. The Nunes penned Latinia is still sought after for surf and skateboard films as well as performed nightly by the world renowned modern day surf band the Merman from San Francisco. Tommy’s career includes stints with Warner Bros. recording artists Sarah, the Country Knights Kalapana from Hawaii and the Ian Mathews Band from England. Tommy Lee’s vast musical experience has led him far and wide performing across the continental United States and Hawaii. One of his most cherished memories is performing live in concert with Linda Ronstadt live in Central Park in New York City.

Chet Hogoboom known as CT has been the voice that has fronted rockin’ soul bands like Fat and Sassy in the 1970’s, Fast Mickey and FATZ in the 1980’s, CT and the Detroit Power and the HeartThieves in the 90’s, touring California, Oregon, Washington as well as Arizona and New Mexico. CT has had the opportunity of performing in concert with the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Greg Kihn, The Mama’s and Papa’s and Junior Walker and the all stars. His first CD project was the HeartThieves, released in 1997 and was a hybrid mix of rock and soul music.

Lots of exciting things going on for CT and Tommy Lee right now with the new CD in the works and a full calendar of live gigs during the summer and fall.
